The shocking scale of sexual abuse allegations at Haiti’s national football center was recorded in a Fifa report which summarizes why Yves Jean-Bart has been banned from football for life.
The Fifpro report formed a part of this research into alleged abuses from Jean-Bart, initially revealed by the Guardian, at the Centre Technique National at Croix-des-Bouquets. It claimed that 14 of these 34 were victims of Jean-Bart himself.
The ethics committee’s adjudicatory room concluded that Jean-Bart, who dominated Haitian football for more than two years, had committed acts of”unprecedented gravity”.
“Mr Jean-Bart’s conduct is just inexcusable, ” a disgrace for any soccer official,” the chairperson of their adjudicatory room, Mr Vassilios Skouris, said. “The pain and suffering he’s caused his various victims of sexual abuse and harassment can’t even be fully comprehended, and signifies an extremely dark spot on the image and standing of football as a game loved by many.
“While claiming he was developing Haitian football, particularly women’s competitions and groups, Mr Jean-Bart did the exact contrary: he abused his position to be able to satisfy his personal attitude of domination within the most fragile people, ruining the livelihood and lives of young promising female players.”
